Cyclic observations.
In addition to the content, it is extremely important to determine the organizational and methodological form of conducting observations with children of those natural objects that are constantly located near them. Observations are best done in the form of cycles.
The inhabitants of this corner of nature live next to preschoolers throughout the school year - this circumstance leaves a special imprint on the pedagogical process: it is impossible for children to become indifferently accustomed to them over this long period. The pedagogical process should be structured in such a way that children’s interest in living beings constantly increases, so that they constantly expand their understanding of them, increase the volume of specific knowledge, so that by the end of the school year any child of senior preschool age could become a guide to a corner of nature - smartly and it’s interesting to talk about its inhabitants. These requirements are met primarily by such a form of pedagogical work as observation cycles, which are carried out not in the classroom, but at various routine moments in everyday life.
A cycle is a series of interconnected observations of a specific object in a corner of nature or a site in a kindergarten. Each of the observations in the cycle has its own content, its own purpose, does not repeat other observations, but is interconnected with them. In total, all observations of one cycle form in children specific and distinct ideas about a given object - its structure, functioning (various manifestations, behavior), living conditions. The cycle of observations allows the child to sensory and independently acquire a system of specific knowledge about the animals or plants that live in his neighborhood.
The cycle of observations as an organizational and methodological form of the pedagogical process has a number of advantages. In the cycle, the entire volume of knowledge is distributed into “portions”, which ensures their gradual and more reliable assimilation. Each subsequent observation allows children to demonstrate new aspects and features of an already familiar natural object, while simultaneously clarifying and expanding existing ideas.
The advantage of the cycle is its length in time - the distribution of observations, following one after another, for a sufficiently long period. Repeated (but with different content) reference to the same object for 1-3 months forms in children a stable cognitive interest in it. And as a result, preschoolers have a need for new observations, which they carry out independently (which is especially valuable), without the encouragement and guidance of the teacher. And, finally, conducting a series of observations in everyday life at different scheduled moments saves time for classes and makes work with children varied.
The cycle is carried out over a long period of time - one or two observations are planned per week. Thus, the presented cycle of 8 observations can be implemented in practice with children of older groups in 1.5-2 months. Such rather long-term communication between preschoolers and the inhabitants of the aquarium contributes to the development of their interest in this natural object.
A separate series of observations is compiled for each animal in a corner of nature in all age groups - children should know and love those pets who are their permanent neighbors. Special observation cycles are devoted to representatives of the plant world - indoor plants, spruce and birch (rowan, chestnut, apple, etc.) on the preschool site, primroses, as well as wintering birds, and frequently encountered insects. Everything that is constantly near the child must be noticed by him, must attract his attention, and arouse interest.

2. Let's make a good home for the hamster.
Target. Show that good conditions for a hamster, under which he will feel normal and not get sick, are a spacious cage (or aquarium), bedding made of sand or sawdust, a house or hole in which the hamster will build a nest, a ladder, a running wheel, a device for the toilet. Learn to provide assistance in equipment (apartment) for the animal.

10. When is a hamster hard to spot?

Observation No. 1. “Meet the turtle?”
Target:
Clarify with your children the features of the external structure of a turtle - this animal is not like others.
The body is covered on all sides with a shell, which consists of separate scutes; the shell is flat below, convex on top, it is very hard and strong. There are openings in front and back through which four legs, a head and a tail emerge or are retracted under the shell. The turtle is a calm animal, you can pick it up, it’s heavy because it’s in a shell, it eats good things, its name is... (give a nickname). She is accustomed to children, and children to her.
Progress of observation:
The teacher shows the animal, says that it will live in a corner of nature, and asks to say what it is called. The children answer: “Turtle.” The turtle is placed on the floor and given the opportunity to examine it for one to two minutes. Then he wonders why this animal is different from others. Children notice that the turtle’s body is covered with a shell. Then he takes the turtle in his arms, circles the sitting children, shows: the shell covers its entire body, only the head and legs are visible from under the shell. Under these conditions, the turtle feels good and does not get sick.

The teacher puts different food on a plate and offers to feed the turtle. Children treat the turtle with cut greens, fruits, and vegetables and watch how it eats. The children watch what kind of food she eats more readily. It is necessary to place a bowl of water in the terrarium.

Observation #3 “How does a turtle walk?”
Target:
Show that the turtle moves in a peculiar way - it walks slowly, alternately moving its legs and raising its body, it cannot run quickly.
It is difficult for her to walk on a smooth floor; it is easier on sand, carpet, or grass. In an unfamiliar place, she often stops and hides in her shell. The turtle has peculiar legs: short, thick, wide, covered with skin with short, blunt and strong claws, the front legs are turned to the sides. Such legs are not adapted for fast walking.

“Poor child, if she grew up without picking a wild flower, without crushing the green grass in the wild! It will never develop with the fullness and freshness of which the human soul is capable.” K.D. Ushinsky Summer is one of the most important stages in the development of children. The task of teachers is to organize the life of children in kindergarten in such a way that over the summer each of them receives a boost of energy and spends this time with benefit and pleasure. Summer brings big changes to the organization of the educational process in preschool educational institutions. The leading activities of preschoolers are games, leisure, entertainment and recreational activities, but what about the formation of the child’s cognitive interests and cognitive actions in various types of activities? An important factor is that children spend most of their time outdoors; the summer period is associated with some difficulties. The success of summer work is determined by how prepared the team is for it. How to organize joint activities, how to plan work in the summer? What gaming and developing technologies should teachers be equipped with? To help educators, I recommend some possible activities for the summer in kindergarten to organize work and observations. Labor and observation can be considered in different types of activity: as structural elements of a walk; as a method of environmental education for preschool children, as part of experimental activities, as part of project activities. Let's look at the last aspect in more detail. Observation is the purposeful perception of objects or phenomena in the environment. It may be associated with the initial acquaintance with an object or its properties that is new to the child, the identification of what is significant, bright, unusual, the perception of a person’s actions with objects or the functioning of the observed object itself.
Observation can also be repeated, when the child contemplates what he likes, what is included in his circle of interests (for example, children really like to watch insects, they can do this every day). In this case, children not only receive emotional or aesthetic satisfaction, but also discover changes occurring with an object or phenomenon, previously not recorded nuances, details, etc. Observation enriches the child’s ideas, guides mental activity, activates the processes of comparison, juxtaposition, generalization, classification, contributes to the improvement of cognitive mental processes (perception, imagination, memory, thinking, speech), enrichment of vocabulary, encourages to explain what is observed, establish reasons, and draw conclusions. “Everything that is logical in speech,” wrote K.D. Ushinsky, “stems from human observations of nature,” and logic itself “... is nothing more than a reflection in our mind of the connection between objects and natural phenomena.” The formation of eco-culture and environmental consciousness must be brought up from an early age; preschool childhood is the initial stage of the formation of a person’s personality. At the same time, a positive attitude towards nature, towards the “man-made world”, towards oneself and the people around them is formed; this can be realized through work in nature. Work contributes to the development of thinking, attention, intelligence, creative imagination, and the ability to plan one’s work. In addition, in the process of labor actions, visual abilities develop, object images and object-practical actions are formed. In the process of labor, the children strengthen their muscles, develop strength, agility, endurance, and improve various movements. Thanks to all this, the vital activity of the child’s body increases and his health improves. Thus, work should enter the child’s life and help in his successful all-round development. If work enters their lives not monotonously, boringly and obsessively, but interestingly, joyfully, and excitingly, children receive satisfaction from it, feeling involved in the real work, rejoicing in their successes. The teacher must help children organize their work activities, unite them into small creative groups, prepare equipment, and show the actions by their own example from beginning to end. Using observations and work in the cognitive development of children, it is possible to solve a complex of interrelated problems: - cognitive development - the formation of cognitive actions, connections between phenomena and objects, mastery of synthesis and analysis, development of a sustainable interest in understanding the world around us, creative activity, imagination; the formation of an ecological culture, a consciously correct attitude towards phenomena, objects of living and inanimate nature; acquaintance with the peculiarities of work in nature, work in the summer in the garden; - social and communicative development - the formation of skills in a culture of communication and interaction of the child with adults and peers; establishing independence in resolving problem situations, purposefulness and self-regulation of one’s own actions; familiarization with the history and cultural values of Russia; developing interest in getting to know the native land (Urals, Chelyabinsk region, Yemanzhelinsk, Krasnogorsky village), its geography, history and culture; formation of the qualities of social maturity of the child’s personality: his assimilation of moral universal values, a sense of belonging to his family, knowledge of national traditions, emotional responsiveness, empathy; formation of the foundations of safety in everyday life, society, and nature. - speech development - promoting the development of monologue and dialogic speech; enriching the vocabulary with figurative expressions, comparisons, synonyms, antonyms, epithets; mastering expressive means of communication; - artistic and aesthetic development - familiarization with nature, development of imagination, creation of an expressive artistic image in visual, productive activities, learning to independently find depiction techniques; - physical development - strengthening muscles, developing strength, agility, endurance, coordination of actions and speech, the ability to embody in movement the mood of the observed object, the nature and process of development of a natural image, expressiveness of performance. A little about the observation methodology For carrying out observations, three points are important: the presence of natural objects; determining the content of observations; searching for their appropriate organization and optimal forms and methods of including children in them. The content of observations is what children can learn in direct contact with nature; that sensory information that comes from the objects themselves and which they can receive independently, subject to special pedagogical organization of observations by the teacher. Observations are accompanied by precise explanations by the teacher of what the children see at this moment; the more specific and vivid the child’s ideas about the object of observation remain, the easier it will be for him to subsequently apply the acquired knowledge in practice. It is important that there is a dialogue with children - when children not only listen, but also discuss what they see out loud, the knowledge is more firmly entrenched in their minds.
Each teacher takes an individual approach to organizing observation in kindergarten, the teacher draws children’s attention to the appearance of grass and flowers on the ground, introduces them to the variety of trees on the territory of the kindergarten, introduces them to insects, birds, arranges various games using sand, water, twigs, leaves. You can organize observations in a kindergarten in a flower garden or on a plot of land allocated for a vegetable garden, where children can take part in planting and harvesting, sowing flowers, and in intermediate work - watering, loosening the soil, collecting seeds, cutting dry branches and leaves. For older children, you can organize duty at the site. There are some general requirements for conducting observations. Observations must be educational in nature, forcing children to think, remember, compare and look for answers to questions. Observations should cover a small range of knowledge so as not to overload the children. Each subsequent observation should provide new knowledge, be interconnected with the previous one and expand existing knowledge. Observations should contribute to the active intellectual and speech development of children. To do this, observations in kindergarten must be carried out systematically and arouse interest in children. Before observation, in order to arouse the interest of children, you can tell or read something about the object of observation for general information. The results of the observation need to be clarified, generalized, systematized, and consolidated so that the child develops a certain idea of the object of observation. It is important that children behave freely during the observation process. By turning observation into a game, when children experience pleasure from it, the teacher combines the useful with the pleasant for the children. For children to reliably assimilate and consolidate knowledge, it is necessary to distribute the entire volume evenly over several days. To organize observation in a kindergarten, the teacher must prepare in advance - choose the time, place and object of observation, taking into account the number of children, their age and the possibility of relationship with previous observations.
For children of the first and second junior groups, short-term observations are mainly carried out, organized to develop knowledge about the variety of properties and qualities of natural objects; children learn to distinguish the size, shape, color and nature of the surface, when observing animals - the manner of movement, the sounds they make. For middle-aged and older children, longer observations are organized aimed at gaining knowledge about natural changes throughout the year, about the growth and development of flora and fauna. During these observations, children are already asked to compare the observed state with what they saw before. A more complex type of observation presupposes that children already have certain knowledge, the ability to analyze and compare what they see, and draw simple conclusions. In the process of this observation, children determine, for example, by the color of the fruit whether it is ripe or not, or by footprints - who drove or passed. Children of the senior and preparatory groups are invited to reflect the results of observations in the nature calendar, where they can sketch seasonal changes in nature, in the animal and plant world, and reflect the participation of people in the surrounding world. A system of work and observations in summer conditions can be implemented through project activities. Depending on the purpose, content and objectives of the project, observations can be individual, group (4-6 people) and frontal (the whole group) forms of organization. Observations can be episodic, long-term and generalizing. When organizing various observations during the design work, it is necessary to take into account the following features. At the pre-project stage, clearly formulate for the children the general task of observation and more specific specific tasks. At the beginning of the project, children exchange knowledge on the topic, interests, questions, discuss ideas that have arisen and share existing experience. The quiz is conducted to increase students' interest in a given topic. Here a general goal is set, for example: “Could the world exist without birds?” Then the general goal is specified, for example: “Birds of our native land?”, “Why do some birds fly away, while others stay for the winter?”, “What birds winter in our region?”, “How do they adapt to the climate of our region?”, “Need should we take care of the birds?”, “What help do they expect from us?” The teacher divides the children into creative groups, taking into account the individual characteristics of the children, and chooses a subtopic for the project, using the technology of cooperation between children and adults. For example: a creative group of three people, united by the name of the bird “Sparrow”, the first child in each subgroup is a “scientist-ornithologist”, the second is an “expert rescuer” and the third child is a “Creator”. Thus, all the children in the group are divided into subgroups, each of which has its own name (crow, cuckoo, owl, etc.) Stages of planning work on the project. At this stage, it is necessary to outline a plan and methods of observation. Participants in project groups receive the task: “ornithologist scientists” - their task is to find out and describe the appearance of their bird, - “rescuer expert” - finds out interesting facts about this bird, habits, structural features, nutrition or history of the name of the bird, “Creator” - taking into account the appearance, structure and interesting facts, organizes games or drawings, crafts, poems, proverbs, sayings about the sparrow, all three are connected not only by the name, but also by observing this bird in nature. The main purpose of the planning stage is to obtain a general idea of the future direction of the research work. For example, the group “scientists - ornithologists” : • observe which of the birds in our area you know; • describe their appearance; • what do they have in common? The group of “rescue experts” : • observe what birds of our region fly to our kindergarten territory; • what they peck; • what time of day; group “Creators” : • name what birds you saw today on our site; • count them; • imitation game “guess the bird by its singing” Based on the location of the observation, we highlight: • Project “Birds of our region”, children watched birds in the kindergarten area, in the park, in the square, in the forest and at home with their parents. • And in the “Green Pharmacy” project, we observed the growth and development of plants both in conditions specially created by man, and the growth of plants in a clearing. We determine the time frame that limits the stages of work - the duration of the project is at least a week. When working on a project, the main task of the teacher is to reach all the children in the group, to include each child in the work; observations are carried out in subgroups, as well as individually. Experience shows that already in middle preschool age, children without much effort acquire a significant body of knowledge if the knowledge is presented in an accessible, exciting form and if the child’s interest in natural phenomena is taken into account. In older preschool age, children's independence increases rapidly. Adults and children change roles: the children do everything necessary themselves, and the teacher helps them (it doesn’t matter that the help at first can be very large). (p.267) The formula of this age: “You do it yourself, and I help you. I’m your assistant, I’ll help you do everything that you can’t do yet: I’ll remind you, I’ll give you advice.” The teacher makes sure to note all the children’s achievements and praise them for their independence, confidence and initiative. The analytical stage was the productive activity that was offered to the children during the observation. Every day, the children and I used icons of a certain color to depict birds seen on the territory of the village in the nature calendar. To make it more convenient to watch birds, we took three binoculars with us on our walk (as an additional incentive). We conducted observations from Monday to Friday. Most birds flew in the morning, observation data are shown in the table observation results.... From our observations we concluded: Most often, birds can be seen in the morning, the habitat is mainly trees, roofs of houses, depending on the characteristics of the birds, they feed on insects and tree fruits, for example, wagtails find food on the ground, sparrows rarely fly on alone, on a tall spruce tree they built a nest for a turtle dove. The largest number of birds live in the backyard, away from children's screams; probably birds, like other animals, love silence and avoid noise and people. This means that our hypothesis is confirmed that the diversity of bird species in our region can be seen in a small territory of the kindergarten, our task is to care for the trees, constantly feed the birds in winter, help them survive the difficult period of the year, build birdhouses in the spring, do not disturb, do not destroy nests. To feed birds in winter, you can collect acacia seeds, ash and maple lionfish, rowan fruits, helping to maintain the number of birds. In addition to directly viewing and observing birds, to attract children to observation, she used literary words, sayings, proverbs, riddles, reading works of art, didactic and speech games “Describe, and we will guess”, “Find by description”, “Guess by sound”, “What sounds do different birds make”, etc. At the generalization stage, we held a competition of experts “Birds of our native land” in the form of presentations by creative groups; at this stage we could not do without the support of parents. The main tasks that we have set for the parents of our group are: to maintain children’s interest in nature, to encourage their environmentally conscious actions, to show interest in the content of educational activities in kindergarten, and of course, to be an example in everything. We implement this approach through joint projects: “We are friends of nature”, “Birds of our native land”, “Plants are our friends”, etc. We carried out joint events “Let’s make our site with our own hands”, “Let’s make our site clean” (cleaning garbage on the site), “We are friends of nature” (environmental poster competition) and others. Parents willingly participate in environmental competitions: “Exhibition of gifts of nature in a group”, “Our favorite animals”, “How I spent the summer”, etc., all this promotes cooperation, emotional, psychological rapprochement between parents and children.
At the competition of experts, the children and I took a virtual excursion to the “World of Birds of Our Land”, subgroups of children defended their mini-projects (our children are just learning to do this, for some it is not at all easy), discussion of the experience gained took place using joint games and tasks , everyone had fun and interesting. As a result, the results were summed up, the degree of mastery of the material was revealed, and the winners of the competition of experts were treated to a surprise in the form of observing and launching pigeons into the sky. There was an exhibition of projects and a photo report on the work done. Project activities in the summer may include such a form of pedagogical work as cycles of observations that are carried out not in the classroom, but at various scheduled moments in everyday life. A cycle is a series of interconnected observations of a specific object in a kindergarten area or a natural phenomenon. Each of the observations in the cycle has its own content, its own purpose, does not repeat other observations, but is interconnected with them. In total, all observations of one cycle form in children specific and distinct ideas about a given object - its structure, functioning (various manifestations, behavior), living conditions. A cycle of observations allows the child to independently acquire a system of specific knowledge about the animals or plants that live in his neighborhood. In the cycle, the entire volume of knowledge is distributed into “portions”, which ensures their gradual and more reliable assimilation. The advantage of the cycle is its length in time - the distribution of observations, following one after another, for a sufficiently long period. Repeated (but with different content) reference to the same object for 1-3 months forms in children a stable cognitive interest in it. As a result, preschoolers have a need for new observations, which they carry out independently (which is especially valuable), without the encouragement and guidance of the teacher. And, finally, conducting a series of observations in everyday life at different scheduled moments saves time and makes work with children varied. When, if not in the summer, will this be implemented. As an example, consider a series of observations within the framework of the project “What do we know about flowers” of flowers in a flower bed (regardless of the age of preschoolers).
Observation 1 . What's growing in the flowerbed? Target. Introduce the plants in the flowerbed and tell them their names; evoke an emotional response (joy) from the perception of the diversity of colors in nature, a desire to observe them. Plant the seedlings in the flowerbed. Caring for young shoots. Observation 2. Under what conditions do flowers grow? Target. To consolidate children's knowledge about the necessary conditions for plant growth using the example of flowers in a flower bed. Answer the questions: Why do plants need: soil, water (watering); sun, air. Caring for plants (loosening, weeding, watering) Observation 3. What does a plant consist of? Target. Introduce children to the parts of a plant: root, stem, leaves, flower, fruit, seeds. Help them identify the parts of the plant themselves by dividing children into subgroups. Each subgroup has its own flower. Observation 4. Living flowers - do you need to take care of them? Target. Show that living flowers cannot live (without water, sun, earth, etc.) without one of the conditions, the flowers will get sick and may die. Conduct the experiment “Flower without water, light.” How can we take care of flowers: watering, removing weeds, loosening, feeding, etc.. Labor in the flowerbed.
Observation 5 . What flower is blooming?Purpose. Learn to observe the flowering of different plants. Find similarities and differences, why all flowers are different. Let's help the flower bloom, water it, get rid of the weeds. Observation 6. How do seeds appear? Target. Familiarize yourself with the peculiarities of the appearance of seeds in different plants, learn to observe its manifestations. When do the seeds appear, what do they look like, what time are they collected. How can we help?
Observation 7. How plants prepare for winter. Target. Continue to teach, using the example of flowers in a flowerbed, to notice the beauty of nature - to notice changes with the arrival of low temperatures. Collecting seeds from late flowers, trimming stems, preparing plants for winter: some flower roots are dug up for the winter (dahlias, gladioli), some are covered for the winter (rose flower roots) so that they do not freeze in winter. Thus, in the project “What do we know about flowers”, the given series of observations covers different aspects of the life of flowers in a flower bed. It presents life in a familiar environment and functional adaptation to it. The cycle shows the environment-forming role of man: how he cares about the living conditions of flowers, and this is nothing more than labor in nature. It is very important that children receive this knowledge in small “portions”, gradually increasing the total volume. It is also important that preschoolers acquire knowledge independently, in a sensory way, which is ensured by the appropriate organization and guidance of the teacher. The cycle is carried out over a long period of time - one or two observations are planned per week. Thus, the presented cycle of 5-7 observations can be implemented in practice with children of older groups over 1.5-3 summer months. Such rather long-term communication between preschoolers and representatives of ornamental plants contributes to the development of their interest in this natural object. At the same time, the relationship between labor and observations in this form of work is clearly visible. The weekly method of introducing preschoolers to seasonal natural phenomena has some similarities with observation cycles. Due to its time-limited and compact implementation, it saves educational time, and its periodicity and regular repetition develop interest in observations in children and teachers, and creates vivid representations of obvious changes in nature.
Experimental observations can be used in experimental projects. With preschool children, you can conduct simple experiments with various objects of animate and inanimate nature. Experiments allow us to more clearly see individual properties, aspects, characteristics of plants, animals, and their vital functions. Through them, their connection with their habitat can be clearly demonstrated. On the kindergarten site you can conduct a variety of experiments with water and air, sand and clay, stone and wood. All these natural materials are part of the habitat of living things, so it is useful to become familiar with their properties. Wood and stone can be compared in terms of hardness: if you press on them with a nail, a mark in the form of a hole remains only on the tree, this helps children understand why squirrels and other climbing animals easily move through trees. Thus, the most important condition for successful work on the cognitive development of children when organizing work and observations in summer conditions is the implementation of an integrated approach through project activities. As a result, an environment is created to enrich and expand children’s cognitive knowledge, in which adults, by personal example, demonstrate to children the correct attitude towards nature and actively, to the best of their ability, participate together with children in environmental activities.
