Narrator
Previously, animals lived in peace, and met and were friends. We will tell our story about a fox and a crane. One day a fox was walking through the swamp to hunt and met a crane.
Fox
Oh! I have long dreamed of inviting you to dinner and treating you like a king.
Crane
Why not come? Treat me to semolina porridge, I really like it.
Fox
I will try my best! I'll wait for you tomorrow at three o'clock.
Crane
I'll be on time, fox!
Narrator
For a day the crane did not eat or drink, He kept walking back and forth - He put on a serious look and an excellent appetite. In anticipation of lunch, he had a conversation with himself.
Crane
There is no better friend in the world! I’ll order a portrait of a fox and hang it over the fireplace, as an example for my daughter and son.
Narrator
Meanwhile, the fox, having thought about it for half an hour, made semolina porridge and spread it over the cup. She cooked it, and now she’s waiting for her neighbor for lunch.
Crane
Hello, little fox, my light! Well, bring lunch quickly! I smell the smell of semolina porridge.
Fox
Help yourself, welcome guest!
Narrator
For a whole hour the crane pecked and nodded its head to the fox. But, even though there was a lot of that porridge, not a crumb got into my mouth! And the fox, our mistress, slowly licks the porridge - She doesn’t care about the guest, she took it all and ate it all herself!
Fox
You must forgive me, there is nothing else to treat me with.
Crane
Well, thanks for that.
Fox
It's a pity that there is no more porridge. Don't blame me, godfather. And, by the way, don’t forget - it’s your turn, neighbor, to invite your friend for lunch!
Narrator
The crane harbored a grudge. Although he was polite in appearance, But he decided to treat the fox like a bird to a bird! He prepared a jug with a neck the length of an arshin, and poured okroshka into it. But He did not provide either a bowl or a spoon for the guest.
Fox
Knock-Knock!
Crane
Now! Hello, dear neighbor, You are not a homebody at all. Come in, sit down at the table, help yourself, don’t be ashamed!
Narrator
The fox began to spin around, rub its nose on the jug, it would come in like this, then like this, there was no way to get food. The smell of the treat teases, Only the paw doesn’t get through, But the crane pecks at itself And his soul sings - Little by little from the jug He ate all his okroshka!
Crane
You must forgive me, There is nothing else to treat me with.
Fox
Nothing? You ate everything yourself! Did you want to deceive me? I'll show you! I will tell everyone in the forest about your hospitality. This is not lunch, this is disgusting!
Narrator
For a long time they swore, and bit, and threw themselves at everything that was at hand... And since then their friendship has been apart!

Home puppet show. The main thing is participation!
I found a very good article that helps you organize interesting fun for children on your own! Useful for organizing birthdays and other holidays!!!
Home puppet show. The main thing is participation!
Many parents delight their children with home puppet shows. After all, in order to bring such joy to your own child, you don’t need either expensive special dolls or complex decorations. The main characters of the play can be the baby’s favorite toys, and the screen can be just a couple of chairs covered with a blanket.
But when a performance needs to be shown not only to their own children, but also to other people’s children (for example, at a child’s birthday party), even the most creative parents are often embarrassed and choose other entertainment for their little guests. Still would! What if the plot seems uninteresting to children and they get bored? What if the scenery falls off the improvised stage? All of a sudden…
In fact, there is nothing difficult about captivating your little guests with a puppet show. I have been showing puppet shows at my children’s birthdays for several years now, and this is invariably one of the brightest and most memorable parts of our holiday.
We maintain interest
A puppet show is a very convenient way to entertain kids during a celebration. But there are some nuances here, since it is more difficult to hold the attention of several unfamiliar toddlers than a couple of your own children.
In order for 2-3 year old children to concentrate on the performance and not indulge, they need to be somehow motivated. Therefore, at the very beginning of the performance, I definitely promise that at the end all spectators will receive gifts. Examples from our home productions:
- the main character Mole brings gifts for his birthday, and the Evil Wolf kidnaps them at the very beginning of the performance, and then throughout the performance we try to return the gifts;
- Cinderella goes to the birthday girl and brings gifts, and along the way she meets various fairy-tale characters and helps them. The “gifts” are usually a bag of chocolate eggs. You can also use other small souvenirs (notebooks, magnets, for girls - small ones, homemade ones, jewelry).
During the performance, you can also maintain children's interest with small gifts (for example, a bunny treats kids with carrots for saving them from a wolf, a bear with honey or raspberries, a stove with pies, etc.). This helps children not only maintain interest, but also feel like real heroes of a fairy tale.
We invite you to participate
For young children, the moment of interaction is of great importance in the performance. The opportunity to take part in a performance is much more important to them than beautiful scenery and an intricate plot.
Here are a few ways to involve the audience in the action unfolding in front of them - most of these elements I usually include in the play script.
Choral singing . We invite the kids to sing a famous song with the doll. For example, the main character Mole meets Gena the Crocodile on the road (focus on the toys you have at home). The Crocodile is in a hurry to meet Cheburashka and cannot go with the Mole to the holiday, but offers to sing a song for the birthday boy. You turn on the soundtrack on the tape recorder, the doll sings from the stage, and the children sing along.
It will be even more fun if you give the children some musical instruments to sing the song (rattles, tambourines, drum, xylophone, wooden spoons, etc.). Some of the kids may be embarrassed to sing along, but no one will refuse to rattle with a rattle!
Guessing riddles . On the Internet now you can easily find riddles on any topic: seasons, fairy-tale characters, New Year, fruits and vegetables, animals, birds, etc. You can ask riddles at the end, before receiving treasured gifts. You can test the intelligence of little viewers before some important plot twist (for example, before meeting the Sly Fox) or ask them to demonstrate their awareness in front of the good characters (for example, in order for Doctor Aibolit to agree to help, you need to guess three of his riddles about animals).
Physical activity . It is difficult for small children to sit in one place for a long time, so the plot must include a kind of “physical exercise” with the body turning left and right) The paws were raised up. (jumping, clapping hands at the top) Like this, like this, raised their paws up
Girls can be invited to dance with Cinderella, and boys can pretend to be racing cars (humming and switching gears) along with their favorite McQueen.
Helping the characters . When thinking through the script, do not forget about questions for the audience , which also make them participants in the action. Questions could be, for example:
- “Did a Wolf run through here? Which direction did you run? Left? To the right?
- “Whose house do you think this is? And why? Shall we knock?
- “How can we defeat the villain? Will you help?
- “What song shall we sing? Which one is your favorite? Which one will Mishka like? Why?"
Children also really like to help the characters with actions , for example:
- “Help the boat sail faster, blow with the wind!”
- “Support the clown, clap!”
- “Help the bunny collect carrots so that he can also go to our holiday - each of you pull out one.”
- “Let’s distract Baba Yaga so that she doesn’t notice how Mashenka saves her brother.”
- “Is the Bad Wolf already gone? When he leaves, guys, please give the bunny a sign.”
At the end of the performance, it is useful for kids to decompress . For this I use homemade “snowballs” (small soft balls made of white fabric stuffed with cotton wool). If you have little time for sewing, then you can dry two dozen wet wipes and sew up lumps of cotton wool in them, simply gathering them along the edges. At worst, you can roll balls from ordinary paper napkins.
Depending on the plot, the resulting balls can be called snowballs, cones, stones, etc. “Stones” can be used to, for example, help the prince break down a wall (made of cardboard or stacked rolls of toilet paper) behind which the villain hid the princess. “Pine cones” to shoot at the Evil Wolf who stole the gifts, and “snowballs” to simply leave with forest animals for fun.
This kind of play with soft balls always brings great joy to kids. But you can arrange it only at the end of the performance, because it is difficult to stop the children after that, and they are unlikely to be able to sit quietly again. In one of my performances, after being bombarded with cones, the Evil Wolf was supposed to ask riddles, but he had to give the gifts just like that, because as soon as his head appeared from behind the screen to ask something, a hail of balls rained down on him.
Writing a script
It is better to choose a simpler plot of the play for children 2-3 years old; a half-hour performance will be quite enough for such kids.
Options:
- on the theme of the fairy tale “Zayushkina’s Hut” (the villain at the very beginning commits some kind of trick, and then various heroes try to “defeat” him);
- on the theme of the fairy tale “Kolobok” (the main character goes somewhere and meets other characters along the way);
- on the theme of the fairy tale “Turnip” (the main character needs to do some work, and the other characters take turns trying to help him, demonstrating their strengths).
Such simple plots are good because they allow you to use any toys you have at home. If there is no “grandmother” - call Winnie the Pooh for help, instead of “granddaughter” - Barbie, and instead of a mouse - Superman!
If you have to show the performance alone, then the “acting out” characters can be given to the little spectators as the plot progresses. For example, in one of our performances, Cinderella gathered guests for a ball dedicated to my daughter’s birthday. I could not manage a whole string of assembled guests at the same time, so after each meeting the agreed invitee fell into the hands of the audience, and Cinderella went on to invite the rest.
If the audience is over 3 years old, then the plot can be more complex, and such a performance can last up to 45-60 minutes. Since I was 3 years old, I have been throwing themed birthday parties for my children. I think through the holiday scenario and select competitions, table settings and treats that match the theme. And if I show a puppet show, it’s also on a given topic.
For boys
For example, for a “pirate” birthday . You can search for the script for it on the Internet, in specialized literature about children's parties, or take a story from a book (Treasure Island, etc.) as a basis. Or you can create your own script, suitable for the age and temperament of your child. The script must have a beginning, a main part and a denouement. For example:
The beginning . The pirates find a note with a map of Treasure Island and decide to go looking for it. You can show how they looked for a ship, recruited a crew, stored supplies, etc. - and in all these actions you can ask for “help from the audience.” You can also introduce a “villain competitor” who will interfere with the main characters in achieving their goal.
Main part . We describe the pirates' journey to the island. They are attacked by sea monsters (for example, an octopus made from tights), the ship runs aground (the audience helps pull it out by pulling the “ropes”), they go to exotic islands inhabited by colorful natives for supplies (together with the audience we perform an “aboriginal dance” "to appease the local residents and get provisions). We draw inspiration from “The Adventures of Captain Vrungel”. The “villain-competitor” tries to cause harm (spoil supplies, punch a hole in the ship’s hull, steal a map, etc.), but the main characters, with the help of attentive viewers, reveal all the intrigues. If there are girls among the audience, then you can add a love line (for example, a beauty rescued from Indian captivity falls in love with the captain). For inspiration, we recall Jules Verne’s novels “The Fifteen-Year-Old Captain” and “Around the World in 80 Days.”
Denouement . The pirates reached the island and found the treasure (shared with the audience, of course). The “villain rival” is defeated, and the captain marries the beauty.
For girls
Second option: birthday for girls , “Princess” theme. Let's remember Disney cartoons about princesses. There, the main character always has assistants (Cinderella has mice, Snow White has gnomes, the Little Mermaid has Flounder the fish and Sebastian the crab, Sleeping Beauty has fairies). These helpers will be your viewers.
The beginning . In a certain kingdom, in a certain state, a beautiful princess was once born (or once lived). The fame of her beauty spread throughout the world, and the Villain decided to steal her. One day she was walking in the forest and met a handsome prince there. The prince immediately (or not immediately) fell in love with the princess, and a wedding date has already been set. But just before the wedding, the Villain stole the princess and imprisoned her in his castle.
Main part . The prince goes in search of his beloved. Along the way, he finds out who stole it and how to defeat the Villain. The audience helps him by pointing out what to pay attention to. The villain can set traps on the prince’s path, and the audience will help the prince get out of them. At the same time, we show how the princess suffers in prison. The audience encourages her, conveys greetings from the prince, and reassures her that help is close.
Denouement . The final battle between the prince and the Villain (you can throw the Villain and his castle with the “snowballs” described above, and he will surrender and promise to improve (like Barmaley in Chukovsky’s fairy tale: “Oh, I’ll be kinder! I’ll love children!..”). Wedding of the prince and princesses.
Characters and scenery
The scenery, of course, greatly enhances the performance. But if the action takes place in different places, and only one person is performing the performance, then it is very difficult to quickly replace the scenery. And any hiccup gives little viewers a reason to get distracted, and it can be difficult to regain their attention later.
A very effective, versatile and easy-to-make decoration is a house. I make it voluminous using this pattern.
On the sides of the window I attach details corresponding to the plot using paper clips: for the bear house - a beehive and a raspberry bush, for the hare house - carrots and cabbage, etc.
If you don’t have a doll, but you really want to use a similar image, make it yourself. You can sew a real glove puppet, you can cut out the missing character from cardboard or fold it using the origami method. And don’t let it bother you that the resulting hero stands out a little from the rest of the “purchased” artists - for kids this doesn’t really matter.
Once we lost a Wolf glove doll - right before the performance. There was no way without the Wolf (he participated in the scene with Little Red Riding Hood), so I just put a big gray woolen sock on my hand and played the Wolf for them. The little spectators were delighted and laughed a lot when they saw the main villain in such a funny guise. In addition, this incident helped the children to relax, and they willingly took part in the production and helped the characters, singing along, playing along and giving hints.
Don't be afraid to joke during the show, kids love to laugh. It’s not scary if the dolls or decorations accidentally fall over; in a home performance this is not a problem at all. The children will only have more fun, and their laughter will defuse the situation. Don't forget to include funny moments when writing the script too. Kids will appreciate even the simplest jokes. Let, for example, Baba Yaga, chasing the heroes, get stuck in her mortar, and the Evil Wolf will wonder for a long time where the cones are flying at him: “What is this? What a disgrace? Who’s throwing himself?!”
Give free rein to your imagination and don’t get hung up on the little things - then the performance you show will definitely be remembered by all the little guests, and they will look forward to an invitation to the next party at your home.
